The construction of the current parish church of Sant Andreu de Vila-robau dates back to the 18th century, as confirmed by the date of 1721 inscribed on the pinnacles of the door. It became the parish of Vila-robau and replaced the old church of the same name, which is just a few metres away. Inside, a baroque image of the Virgin Mary and Child is preserved, probably from the 18th century.
Photograph by Josep Maria Cañellas which belongs to the important Rubaudonadeu photographic collection in Figueres and is preserved in the Fages de Climent Library in Figueres. It shows an interesting image taken at the end of the 19th century showing the Vila-robau square. On the right wall there is part of Sant Andreu Church’s bell tower. An opening with a grille that protects it can be seen. It looks like the building has lost some of its original plastering. There are two women in the picture, one with a basket, and right next to them there is a cart with two other individuals.
