There is a semi-circular arch of smooth limestone voussoirs on Carrer de les Monges, where the portal to the castro Tolon, the old Peralada castle, still stands. Above the door there is a fragment of masonry in a zig-zag design. The frame has also been preserved. The villa was later rebuilt and expanded. As for the castle and church, Golobardes says: "There is a fragment of church wall with the 'opus espicatum' that has been preserved, as well as an arcosolium with a shield and a tombstone dating from 1225; and from the castle, on the “Costa de las Monjas”, part of the walls built with large, smooth ashlars, a window with a semi-circular arch and other elements that hint at a confusion between the new buildings and the whitewash. In 1390, Felipe de Rocabertí, Lord of Peralada, gave the buildings and land of the old castle to the community of Augustinian canonesses in Sant Bartomeu de Bell-lloch, which still holds them.”
