Large Stone Hut of en Rafela | Pla de Vinyers
Local inventory: L-50 | Code Wikipedia: 11,881
Declared Cultural Asset of Local Interest
Interior height: 3.45 m | Inner diameter Ø: 3.30 m
Large simple truncated cone hut, supported by a large perimeter wall that overcomes a steep slope. The false vault, which is closed by the approximation of rows, alternates rows laid flat and on edge. The façade has been very well maintained, with shelves on the sides and eaves over the door. The exceptional lintel stands out, where the builder engraved the date of construction, 10 May 1825, and a cross.
As indicated by Jenar Fèlix in The dry stone huts of the Garriga d'Empordà, it is a fundamental construction to establish the chronology of the truncated cone huts in the Pla de Vinyers.
Restoration promoted by Llers Town Council with the support of the Dept. of Culture of the Generalitat of Catalonia in the framework of the "Subsidies for the execution of works of restoration and conservation of buildings of notable cultural value for the three-year period 2020-2022" and carried out by E.I. Foresterra SCCL.
