The small hamlet of La Serra currently consiting of the farmhouses of La Serra and Ca n’Americanes belongs to the parish of Pedret i Marzà. Documents regarding inhabitants at La Serra appear as early as the 13th century and the farmhouses are mentioned in the 18th century. In fact, the town had also been called Pedret i Marzà i La Serra until 1846, when the municipality was annexed to Vilanova de la Muga.
