The Torre d’en Reig (Reig’s Tower) is a building from the early 20th century, where the eminent Empordà watercolour painter Ramon Reig lived. The house and tower are in a modernist in style with elements that emulate nature and are reminiscent of a medieval fortification. The tower, which rises above the building, has a brick-built machicolation with a crenellated crown, which also serves as a railing on the roof of the tower, and where there is a plastered and painted central turret topped with merlons. Inside the spiral staircase, located within the cylindrical volume of the tower is outstanding. Originally, the ground floor was reserved for the various services, while the second floor was used as bedrooms. There is also decoration with glazed ceramics and colourful stained-glass windows. The landscaping surrounding the building is of remarkable beauty. The building houses many of the town’s services, such as the Town Hall, the medical dispensary and public schools.
