La Mare de Déu de Palau is a Romanesque church in the neighbourhood of Palau (municipality of Sant Llorenç de la Muga) and is protected as a local cultural heritage site. The church has a single nave covered with a row of pointed vaults and a semi-circular apse. The triumphal arch is pointed, and the roof of the presbytery is almond-shaped. The main façade has a doorway with two semi-circular archivolts, with no lintel or tympanum. There is a 19th-century wooden altarpiece in the presbytery. There is a bell gable on the western façade with three pilasters and two quarter-circular arches. The masonry throughout the entire building is made of well-squared ashlars that form very straight rows. The first citation of Sant Llorenç de la Muga was in 972. The Sancte Marie de Palacio chapel was a non-parochial chapel with a resident priest by the late 14th century.
