These two mills used the same water, which is why one of them is located downstream from the other. Still in use in the 18th century, their origin is likely medieval, although they underwent various reforms. They are an excellent example of the ancient mills that once existed on the banks of the Muga river. The mill dam was located at the “Roca del Mig (Middle Rock”), about 30 metres upstream. This large limestone rock can still be seen today. A canal ran from the lock to a pond at the first of the mills, which harnessed the water to grind grain. The water then flowed through an underground channel to the other mill, located downstream, before returning to the river (only a few meters away from the two mills at that time). Both mills have been well preserved.
