The landscape of Garrotxa d'Empordà has two physiognomies. On one hand, there are the dry agricultural landscapes with interesting wooded margins and, on the other hand, the slopes where agricultural abandonment has increased the forests. In this second space, it is increasingly common to find abandoned farmhouses completely surrounded by forests. Basically, secondary pine forests of white pine, shrublands, and grasslands.
Recently, this space has also been characterized by the presence of numerous large farms.
