The hermitage from the 17th century was mentioned in a document from 866. In 948 it appears under the dominion of the neighbouring abbey of Sant Pere de Rodes. In 1926 it became part of the parish of Port de la Selva. Currently, Mass is only held during the summer months. The current church does not preserve any visible vestiges of the medieval cell. On the south side, the modern mansion belonging to the rectory is now in ruins; however, interestingly, when it was built, at the beginning of the 20th century, medieval tombstones were discovered there. The “Font de la Vall” water fountain, also known as the “Font d’en Garlapa”, at the western end of the village, partly explains the location of the original cell. In the small village centre, noteworthy for its traditional architecture, extending from the church and the fountain in a very characteristic location, not too far from the coast but not visible from the sea.
