This is a passage tomb from the Middle Neolithic period known as Petra Coaperta (1214) and Petra Cooperta (1233). The first archaeological excavation was in 1943 and was directed by August Panyella and Miquel Tarradell. Later, in 1957, Francisco Riuró restored and excavated the tomb, locating the marks left by the slabs that were used to build the structure. No artifacts were found during the excavations, except for several small fragments of pottery and bones. However, other artifacts and ancient pottery from the Iberian and Roman periods unrelated to the tomb have been found throughout the area. Based on its architectural style, Tarrús (2002) dates the dolmen to the second phase of the Alt Empordà - Rosselló passage tombs, in the second half of the 4th millennium BC.
