Collaret de la Cabana

Necklace found in the site of the megalithic monument, the Cabana de l’Arqueta in Espolla. It was part of the funerary offerings belonging to someone who was buried in this dolmen. These offerings were used in rituals. The most intimate and personal belongings of the deceased were placed alongside them, to help them make the journey to the afterlife. Other objects were also found at this site, the most significant of which, apart from the necklace, was a flint knife. These objects were obtained as a result of excavations carried out throughout the 20th century, most notably those carried out by the well-known archaeologists and researchers, Pere Bosch Gimpera and Lluís Pericot. The necklace is preserved in the collections of the Empordà Museum in Figueres.
