Capitell de l'Església de Sant Esteve

This capital, which is on display at the Girona Art Museum, dates back to the 12th century and comes from the Sant Esteve de Vilaür Church, which it belonged to. It is made of limestone and, of the four faces, there are only two that are finished. There is a head of a feline animal and two leaves appear on each side. Above the feline’s head is the head of a bird with an elongated beak on one of the sides. It appears as if the piece is also lacking the last stage of final polishing.
