Camí dels enamorats | Els Avalls
The Camí dels Enamorats is an old road on the outskirts of the centre of Llers. The historian Antoni Egea noted it was part of the medieval district of Vila d'Amunt or Vilademont, made up of a handful of widely scattered farmhouses centred on the spring of the same name. Very close to the road the Desvinyol castle once stood, which according to Gregori Pallisser was located in the western part of the Rotllens farm (in the current Poble Nou) and to the south of the Mir farm, both farms half an hour away by foot from Llers castle.
It is not documented since when it has been called the Camí dels Enamorats, but according to the oral tradition it was a common place for the romantic walks of the young people of the town.
A grove of Quercus Suber which, according to Jenar Fèlix, would be an example of the cork plantings that took place in various parts of the Llers area at a time when the phylloxera had destroyed all the vineyards and alternative crops were sought. The arrival of the phylloxera led to a very important social upheaval and caused a major peasant revolt in 1880 known as "Els fets de Llers" against the attempts of scientists who intended to eliminate crops to slow the progress of the plague in the face of farmers' desperation.
The restoration of this section of dry stone wall has taken place within the framework of the PECT project "Valuation of the cultural heritage of dry stone in the Garriga d'Empordà: A living and active heritage", co-financed by the Girona Provincial Council, the Generalitat de Catalunya and the five municipalities of the Garriga d'Empordà.
