This north-facing vantage point construction offers magnificent views over the towns of Sant Climent Sescebes, Espolla and Mollet de Peralada. Other elements of this landscape can be observed such as the lines of trees bordering the fields, cork trees and vineyards, Priorat and the olive groves. The forest masses arranged into patches and, alternately, with the crops are located in the places with the steepest slopes and drier, stony soils. The area is rich in small dryland agricultural plots, which mean species of great interest, such as birds of prey, are present. The recovery of vineyards and olive cultivation has created new social, economic and cultural dynamics that magnify the virtues of this landscape. Espolla Castle is a 13th century building that is currently divided into different urban estates. This has meant that its state of conservation is precarious and varied. The scattered population is characterised through the preservation of its a rural character and centre of good architectural quality.
