Located a kilometre outside La Jonquera, the church has two visible construction phases. The first phase dates from the 8th and 9th centuries and includes the nave and the vault; this section could be considered pre-Romanesque. The second, from the 15th-17th centuries, includes the construction of the chapels of the transept and apse. The church was initially dedicated to Santa Cristina. Its interior is completely whitewashed. Only the northern wall shows evidence of granite blocks, either broken or unworked, in various forms. The extreme rusticity of the building and its modifications and reforms over the years make it impossible to reliably date the building. The lack of old documentation about the church also makes the task difficult, as recent sources date it to the 10th century and others between the 8th and 9th centuries. A walled stone enclosure and a small cemetery are adjacent to the church.
