The “Eclesia de Pontonibus” is mentioned in 1279. It was named as the parish church at the end of the 14th century. At the bottom of the façade and under the bell tower we can see a fragment of a Romanesque wall that corresponds to the frontispiece of the old church. Next to the existing door today, on the south side, there is another rectangular one and an oculus is visible above. Now, both apertures have been walled in and belong to the old Romanesque façade. The apse has a semidecagonal-haped floor plan and no windows. The eaves of the roof are decorated with red triangles on a white background.
The image shows its façade, with a rose window and a clock above it. If we look closely at the front door, we see that it is decorated with two side columns. The photograph from the 1980s belongs to the collection of the Empordà weekly newspaper and is preserved in the Alt Empordà Regional Archive. It shows the wooden door with a complete wrought iron lattice with various shapes. One of the outstanding elements of this façade is the niche containing an image of Saint Martin dating back to 1773. It still retains part of the original plaster work, although in some areas slight deterioration is observed.
