The origin of this convent can be traced back to 1584, when the Capuchins made their home next to the Sant Roc chapel. During the reign of Charles III, the convent was demolished to build the Sant Ferran castle. At the same time, in 1757, and with royal support, work began on the new convent, also dedicated to Sant Roc (Saint Roch), which was completed three years later. The friars were expelled during the disentailment of 1835 and the building has served various purposes ever since, including as a municipal warehouse and school/workshop. It was renovated from 2011-2014 to convert it into an auditorium. The renovation uncovered two mural paintings from the 18th and 19th centuries, and plans have been made to restore them.
