In the building known as Casa Forns and later Can Comas, from the street called Carrer de les Peixateries Velles, up to Puig del Mercadal, the new school or synagogue of the Castelló Jewish community was founded. It is documented from the end of the 13th century. It was a building which had a main room, a school and auxiliary rooms. From this same period some basins were excavated from under the ground which were related to the ritual baths. Finally, there was another phase of reforms documented around 1425 after which the synagogue was closed and auctioned to turn it into a hostel.
